Sadaqatul Fitr

On the day of Eid-ul-Fitr, Allah Ta'ala has made sadaqatul-fitr or fitra wajib on the person who owns the amount of wealth that is nesab and it is more than the daily necessities. Paying Sadaqatul Fitr is obligatory.

The amount of sadaqatul fitr is two and a half sers if it is paid in wheat, flour, chhattu or raisins and three and a half sers if it is collected in dates or barley.

Sadaqatul Fitr can be paid with the said item. It can also be recovered by its equivalent value.

In this case, it should be remembered that the donation of the said amount of Sadaqatul Fitr should be given on behalf of oneself and one's minor children. It is not wajib given by the wife or other members of the household. However, if it is collected with their permission, it will be collected.

The poor must be made the owner of that amount of wealth. This payment will be collected even if it is given before or the next day of Eid. But it is better to pray on the day of Eid before going to the Eid prayer.

To whom to give Sadaqatul Fitr:

Those who are able to take Zakat are the ones who are eligible to receive Sadaqatul Fitr. But it is better to give to the poor and orphans of the society and to one's own poor relatives and neighbors. Because in the hadith, it is said about the purpose of Sadaqatul Fitr, to provide food for the poor.

Therefore Sadaqatul Fitr will only give to the poor-orphans to join them in the joy of Eid and cleanse one's fast from errors - this will be the goal of Sadaqatul Fitr.

When to give Sadaqatul Fitr:

It is Sunnah to give Fitra in the morning of Eid. Abdullah Ibn Umar RA. described to be He said, "The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to order Sadaqatul Fitr before going out for the Eid prayer." (Sahih Bukhari: 1509).

Sadaqat al-Fitr is obligatory after the Sadiq in the morning on the day of Eid. According to the interpretation of the hadith, it is better to offer it after the morning Sadiq before the Eid prayer. However, if it is not possible to give at this time, it can be given before or after. Bahare Shariat, Alamgiri etc.
