Fazael of Ramadan
The Holy Qur'an states that fasting during the day is obligatory:
يٰۤاَیُّہَا الَّذِیۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا كُتِبَ عَلَیۡكُمُ الصِّیَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَی الَّذِیۡنَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُوْنَ ۙ
O believers! Fasting is enjoined upon you, as it was enjoined upon those before you, that you may attain piety. Surah Baqarah, verse 183
From the hadith:
37. Ibn Salam (RA) ... Companion Hazrat Abu Huraira (RA) narrated from the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: He who fasts in Ramadan seeking reward in the Hereafter with a strong sense of faith. All the sins of his past life will be forgiven.
Al-Jami's Sahih - Imam Bukhari (RA) (Sahih Bukhari)
Hadith No: 37 International No: 38
Tahqiq: Tahqiq is unnecessary
Narrated by Abu Hurairah (RA) (died: 57/58/59 Hijri)
Explanation of hadith:
Ramadan fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam. The place of fasting is after faith, prayer and zakat. The Arabic word for fasting is Sawm, which literally means abstinence. Fasting is defined as fasting by all sane, adult Muslim men and women from dawn to dusk, abstaining from eating, drinking, sexual intercourse and all activities that break the fast. Therefore, when the moon of the month of Ramadan rises, it is obligatory on every healthy, mature adult male and adult woman free from menstruation to observe the full Ramadan fast. Allah Ta'ala has said about this:
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آَمَنُوا كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الصِّيَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ
(Translation) O believers! Fasting is enjoined upon you, as it was enjoined upon those before you, that you may be righteous.-Surah Baqarah (2): 183
In another verse he mentioned:
فَمَنْ شَهِدَ مِنْكُمُ الشَّهْرَ فَلْيَصُمْهُ
(Tarjama) So whoever among you gets this month, he must fast. - Surah Baqarah (2): 185
Hazrat Abu Huraira RA. He said, The Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said:
If you saw the moon, then if you saw it, then you will be sad.
And in the narration: سوموا لریشته وافتروا لرویته, فان عم علیکم فاكملوا السلك.
When you see the moon (of Ramadan), fast from then on, and when you see the moon (of Shawwal), then you break the fast. If the sky is cloudy, fast for thirty days. - Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 1909; Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 1080 (17-18)
It is proven in the light of the mentioned verses and hadiths and other evidences that it is obligatory to fast in the month of Ramadan, it is also obligatory to observe and believe in fasting as a necessary rule of Islam.
Moreover, if a Muslim deliberately skips even one fast of Ramadan without any Shariah reason, then he will be considered a great sinner and a heinous criminal. It will be considered as violating the basic rules of religion and destroying the foundation of faith-Islam. Hadith Sharif mentions severe punishment for those who deliberately break fasts.
Hazrat Abu Umama RA. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, say:
While I'm asleep, I'm asleep, and I'm going to go up. She said: I will not let you down, so I went up until I was on the mountain, if there were strong voices, I said: What are these voices?
i was sleeping I saw two people came to me in a dream. They took me by the arms and brought me to a remote mountain. Then he said to me, you climb the mountain. I said, I can't get up. They said, We will make it easy for you. I climbed up. When I reached the mountain level, I suddenly heard a terrible noise. I said, what is the sound of all this? They said, "It is the cry of the people of hell." Then they proceeded with me. Suddenly I saw some people, who were hanging by their leg muscles. And the two ends of their mouths were torn out and blood flowed from them. I said, who are they? They said, those who break their fast before it is time for Iftar. - Sahih Ibn Khuzaimah, Hadith: 1986; Sahih Ibn Hibban, Hadith: 7448; Sunan Nasa'i Kubra, Hadith: 3286; Mustadrake Hakim, Hadith-1609; Tabarani, Hadith: 7666
If a person does not fast for one day in the month of Ramadan, not only does a person become a sinner, but even if he fasts for a lifetime instead of that fast, he will never be able to gain the dignity and welfare, the eternal mercy and blessings of one fast of Ramadan, and in no way will he be compensated properly.
Hazrat Abdullah Ibn Masood RA. said
Those who break the fast on a day of Ramadan intentionally, without travel or illness, never got it, and who fasted all day, ... Al-Bukhari mentioned a comment in the form of Al-Zam where he said: And Ibn Masoud said to him, and Sheikh Muhammad said to the people: This hadeeth is forbidden by words and rejected by rulings.
A person who intentionally breaks even one fast of Ramadan, except for illness and travel, even if he fasts for a lifetime, the right of that fast will not be fulfilled.-Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaiba, Hadith: 9893; Musannaf Abdur Razaq, Hadith: 7476; Sahih Bukhari 4/160
Hazrat Ali RA said-
A person who intentionally breaks a fast in the month of Ramadan will not be able to make up for that fast for life. - Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaiba, Hadith: 9878
Some of the virtues and characteristics of fasting described in Hadith Sharif are mentioned here:
1. Fasting will be rewarded by Allah Rabbul Alamin himself and will be given free of charge
Every good deed has its prescribed reward and reward, through which Allah will reward the doer. But the issue of fasting is completely different. Because there is a unique announcement from Allah Ta'ala about fasting.
Hazrat Abu Huraira RA. Narrated from: The Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said,
The reward of every deed of man is increased. The reward of a good deed is from ten times to twenty seven times. Allah Almighty says, but fasting is different. Because it is only for me and I myself will pay for it. The servant has controlled his passions and abstained from eating and drinking for Me alone.-Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 1151 (164); Musnad Ahmad, Hadith: 9714; Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaiba, Hadith: 8987; Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 1638
Another description has-
عن عبى حريرة رضي الله عنه said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: God forsakes his food, drink, and lust from others, fasting for him and those who are worthy of him, and good deeds for his example.
Hazrat Abu Huraira RA. Said, The Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, Allah Rabbul Alamin said, A servant abstains from food and drink for Me alone, fasting is for Me, I myself will reward him, and the reward for (other) good deeds is tenfold. - Sahih Bukhari, Hadith : 1894; Musnad Ahmad, Hadith: 9999; Muatta Malek 1/310
Regarding fasting - in another narration - Allah Ta'ala says, "Every worship is for the person who worships, but fasting is for Me." I will repay it myself. (Sahih Bukhari Hadith-1904)
The meaning of this saying is that although in fact all worship is for the sake of Allah, to gain His pleasure and nearness. Yet there is a distinct difference between fasting and other acts of worship. That is, the structural activities, forms and rules of all other acts of worship are such that apart from the purpose of gaining the pleasure of Allah, there is an opportunity to enjoy the worshiper's soul. Even if he doesn't express it on his face, many times his heart may show hypocrisy. Such feelings are hidden behind his feelings. It exists subconsciously within him even if he cannot feel it. As a result, the influence of nafs comes there. Fasting, on the other hand, is a systematic form of worship, in such a form that the worshiper has no chance to taste the nafs of the worshiper except for the purpose of attaining the pleasure of Allah. If the fasting person does not reveal the matter of fasting with his own mouth, then it is not like it is revealed to anyone except the All-Knowing Allah. Therefore, the satisfaction of Mawla in the case of fasting is strictly observed. That is why there is such a wide gap between fasting and other acts of worship.
The reason for the great virtue of fasting may also be that fasting is a result of patience. And the good news of Allah for those who are patient is-
Those who are patient will have countless rewards. - Surah Jumar (39): 10
The Creator of all creatures, the Lord of the universe, when Allah Ta'ala himself gives the reward, how much will he give? Imam Awaayee Rah. In the explanation of this hadith, it is said - Allah will reward the fasting person, it will not be measured, it will not be weighed, that is, He will give it freely.
2. Allah Ta'ala will make the fasting person drink water on the Day of Resurrection

He said, you fast. -Musnad Ahmad, Hadith: 22149; Sahih Ibn Khuzaima, Hadith: 1893; Sahih Ibn Hibban, Hadith: 3426; Sunan Nasa'i, Hadith: 2530
4. Fasters will enter Paradise through a special door called 'Rayyan'
Hazrat Sahl Ibn Sa'd RA. It was narrated that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said,
There is a door in Paradise, called Rayan. Only fasting people will enter through this door on the Day of Judgment. No one else can enter. It will be announced - where are the lucky fasting? Then they will stand up. No one but them can enter through this door. Then when the fasting people enter, it will be closed. As a result, no one can enter through that door. - Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 1896; Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 1152; Musnad Ahmad, Hadith: 22818

Fasting and the Quran will intercede for the servant on the Day of Judgment. Fasting will say, O Lord! I stopped him from food and sex. So take my recommendation in that regard. Fasting is a expiation of sins is proven through Quranic verses. Allah Ta'ala has sent down the law of fasting as expiation for various kinds of sins. Such as the expiation of shaving the head in the state of Ihram (due to illness or headache) (2:196), the expiation of accidentally killing a dhimmi or contracted infidel (4:92), the expiation of oaths (5:89) and the expiation of zihar (58: 3-4); Fasting has been ordered for different periods by Allah Ta'ala. So it is easily understood that fasting purifies the fasting person by washing away his sins.

Ibrahim ibn Musa (RA) ... on the authority of Abu Huraira (RA), who said, The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Allah Ta'ala said, Every action of the son of Adam except fasting is for himself, but fasting is for Me, so I am its reward. will give Fasting is a shield. Let none of you indulge in indecency and quarrel on the day of fasting. If someone abuses him or quarrels with him, let him say, I am a Sayyim. Muhammad's life in his hands, his oath! The smell of Sayim's mouth is sweeter to Allah than the smell of musk. For Saim there are two pleasures that make him happy. When he breaks his fast, he is happy and when he meets his Lord, he will be happy in return for fasting.

Explanation of hadith:
Fasting is a protective shield and fortress from hell
Hazrat Jabir RA. It was narrated that the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said:
Our great Lord said - Fasting is a shield. By this the servant will save himself from the fire of Hell. Fasting is for Me and I will reward it. Musnad Ahmad, Hadith 14669; Shuabul Iman Baihaqi, Hadith 3570
Hazrat Abu Huraira RA. It is narrated that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said:
الصِّيَامُ جُنّةٌ, وَحِصْنٌ حَصِينٌ مِنَ النّارِ.
Fasting is a shield (of salvation from Hell) and a fortified fortress. Musnad Ahmad, Hadith-9225; Shuabul Iman, Baihaqi, Hadith 3571
The smell of a fasting person's mouth is more fragrant than that of a perfume
Allah Ta'ala has evaluated the stench in the mouth due to fasting in an unimaginable way. He said that the stench caused by starvation is more fragrant than incense to him and he blessed the fasting people who were intoxicated with his love.
The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said - 'Surely, the smell of the mouth during fasting is better in the sight of Allah than the smell of musk.' - Sahih Bukhari Hadith, 1904
It should be noted here that in the narrated hadith, stench refers to the smell that arises from inside the stomach due to abstinence from eating and drinking. Bad breath caused by keeping the teeth and mouth unclean is not the point here. So the fasting person must be aware of keeping his teeth and mouth clean.
Fasting will be rewarded by Allah Rabbul Alamin Himself and He will give it without reckoning
Every good deed has its prescribed reward and reward, through which Allah will reward the doer. But the issue of fasting is completely different.
Servant has controlled his instincts and given up drinking for Me alone. Sahih Muslim, Hadith 1151 (164); Musnad Ahmad, Hadith 9714; Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaiba, Hadith 8987; Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith 1638
Two joys for fasting:
It is stated in the hadith Sharif - the Prophet (PBUH) said, 'There are two joys for the fasting person. One is at the time of Iftar, the other is at the time of meeting his master Allah.'
The joy of the Iftar of the fasting person is that after fasting all day, he sits in front of the Iftar on the eve of sunset. When he has different types of food in front of him. Then his mind is happy. Because hunger is intensified due to fasting all day. A fasting person sits with hunger pangs all day long and eats different kinds of fruits and food just before Iftar. But he doesn't eat. Why do we do this? The reason for this is that we refrain because we have the fear of the great Rabbul Alamin in our hearts. This abstinence is due to piety.
The second joy of the fasting person is that on the Day of Resurrection, the fasting person will see the great Rabbul Alamin. The servant will not realize how many days, months, years, centuries will pass by watching this.

Explanation of hadith:
Tarawir Namaz in the light of Hadith and Sunnah
Sheikh Muhammad Ali Assabuni
[The following article is a Bangla translation of الهدي النبوي الصحيح في صلاة التراويح by Shaykh Muhammad Ali Assabuni Hafizullahu wa Raahu, a famous scholar of Saudi Arabia, Ustaz of Jamia Umm al-Qura, Mudarris of Masjid Haram, author of the famous Tafseer book 'Safwatut Tafaseer'.
In the article, he has beautifully presented the correct course of action of the Ummah regarding the number of Tarawi Rakats in the light of Hadith and Sunnah.
Note: Some additional work has been done while translating the booklet-
1. Shaykh Sabuni generally did not say anything about the quality of hadith and asar. Annotations briefly state the value of descriptions.
2. In the case of citations, the booklet does not mention the hadith number, never mentions the name of the book, but only presents it under the heading 'Hadith'. Hadith books and hadith numbers have been added by the translator.
3. Books quoted in the booklet, other than the Hadiths, usually refer to their sections and pages. No changes have been made to it. There are some fields, where citations are not mentioned or volumes and pages are not mentioned, they have been added.
4. It seems that the respected author quoted some narrations from a later book rather than from the original text of hadith. So in some cases one or two words have been changed. In these cases the original words from the sources of hadith are mentioned.]
Praise be to God, blessed be He, and may we pray for the purity of the people of our master Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace.
You have in your hand a booklet written about the Tarawir Namaz. The booklet is small in size. But inshAllah it will be of great benefit. The booklet will reveal the truth about the number of rak'ahs of Taraweeh and dispel the doubts of those people who, in the name of upholding the Sunnah, say that eight rak'ahs of Taraweeh prayer and twenty rak'ahs of Taraweeh are bid'ah. But they do not know that due to such actions they are moving away from the path of justice and are going against the Sunnah.
They do not understand that the consequence of calling twenty rakat Tarawi as bid'ah is very dire. By this it is proved that the Salaf and Khalaf and our predecessors and successors Imams were ignorant and misguided. This is not the end; On the contrary, according to their statement, even the cloak of Sahaba is stained with ignorance and corruption. Because, Umar RA. All the Companions of the Prophet supported him when he ordered twenty rakat Taraweeh. No one objected; Instead, everyone has done Ijma.
So calling eight rak'at as Sunnah and calling twenty rak'at as Bid'ah is very dangerous. But that's what they're saying. By saying these things, people are being troubled, they are destroying the unity of the Muslims and they are tearing the unity of the Muslims into pieces. The sad thing is, they are doing these things and thinking, they are doing very noble deeds.
For this reason, it seems important to hold a pen about Tarawi. In order to dispel misconceptions in this regard, the correct position of the Sahih Sunnah and the Ummah is clarified. For ease of discussion I have organized the booklet under the following headings:
1. A few preliminary words.
2. The command and virtue of Tarawi prayer.
3. Who first read the Taraweeh prayer?
4. This is the reason why this prayer is called Tarawir prayer.
5. Number of rakats of Tarawi prayer and the statements of Ulamae Keram about it.
6. Evidence on 'Twenty Rakat Taraweeee Sunnah'.
7. The reign of Haramain Sharifin.
8. Shaykhul Islam Ibn Taymiyyah. The settled fatwa of
9. The Sunnah of Umar is the Sunnah of the Prophet.
10. Some recommendations and conclusions to the youth.
O Allah! May you save us from all kinds of severe temptations, save us from the worship of instincts, grant us sincerity and devotion, and keep us free from the addiction to fame. Undoubtedly, You hear all and accept all the dua of the servant.
A few preliminary words
For ages Muslims have lived in prosperity. They are brothers. They used to treat each other with love and help and cooperation and performed the Taraweeh prayers in the month of Ramadan with love, heart and unity. In short, Muslims were covered with the mantle of mutual love due to Islam's unparalleled teachings and well-developed way of life.
In this way, the atmosphere of love and intimacy prevailed in the Muslim society for ages. Nothing could mar their serenity, destroy their unity; Neither in Ramadan, nor outside of Ramadan. Because, their main preoccupation was the Qur'an and worshiping. On the other hand, where was their chance to give attention?
Then came the present age; An age of stagnation of thought and poverty of knowledge. Now the Muslims are focusing their entire attention and attention on the branch matters. As if there is no need to pay attention to the essential and fundamental aspects of religion. But the greater part of importance and engagement should have been spent on it.
Thus, due to such preoccupation with secondary and branch matters, disputes and quarrels have crept into us. And because of this strife, we have fallen behind, unable to get along with others. But once we were the pioneers, leading the world.
Surprisingly, these people who deviate from the straight line of Islam and create conflict are not ordinary people; Eminent persons, who occupy the seat of leadership of the Ummah. They express themselves as scholars of the Qur'an and Sunnah, claim to be the followers of the Salaf Salehin, and think that they have attained such excellence in talent and knowledge that very few scholars of today have been able to reach this far.
On the contrary, some of them have become victims of arrogance and have reached such a level that they have started standing in the queue of mujtahid imams. Then came such strange ijtihads, which conflicted with the Ulama of the predecessors and successors of Jumu'ah. As a result, the unity of Muslims is destroyed, the unity of the Ummah is broken. How beautifully the poet said-
Deen creates palaces of heart and unity among each other, strengthening the bonds of Islamic brotherhood. And today due to stupidity and instinct, religion is being used as a tool of division and strife and in the name of religion, all the bonds of faith brotherhood are being broken. However, Allah Ta'ala has called for the unity of Muslims on the basis of religion. He said-
Indeed all Muslims are brothers. So settle between your two brothers... - Surah Hujurat (49): 10
Alas! Shaykhs of this era have brought about a severe disaster among the Muslims by their own judgment and ijtihad! What a terrible danger the blind bias of their ways and ways has brought upon us! These shaykhs (expressing ummah-separate opinions) want to gain fame. That is why they are demanding to be Mujtahid in this difficult time for Muslims.
They spread the smoke of hatred and discord among the common Muslims and ignited riots and riots over trivial issues. Is it permissible to make dhikr with the tasbeeh hand or not, where to place the hands in prayer, how to pray the Taraweeh prayer, whether it is permissible to kiss the hand of the scholar out of respect, whether it is permissible to stand in respect of the guest, whether ijtimayi dhikr is permissible or not, after the recitation of the Qur'an, 'Sadaqallahul Azim.. .'They started sedition on minor issues like whether it can be said or not. But here there is no difference between halal and haram. At most, if one method is better, the other method is also permissible.
These are ancillary matters of Shariat. With these they incite sedition in the society and propagate them with such importance that they appear to be the fundamentals of the Shari'ah. They need to be given as much importance as the unity of creed and ummah, and they need to be preoccupied as much as it is necessary to spend a concerted effort to resist Christian missionaries and other subversive calls, and to combat atheism, heresy, and moral decay spreading among the youth. To build strong unity to prevent speed. The idea is that after the division of the Muslims by the colonial enemies, there is a need for a class from among them, who will fill the division into sixteen sections of the Ummah.
The sad thing is, these Shaykhs are busy and satisfied with such nefarious activities. Allah Ta'ala has said:
كُلُّ حِزْبٍۭ بِمَا لَدَیْهِمْ فَرِحُوْنَ.
Each team is happy with the approach they think they have taken. - Surah Muminun (23): 53
The most painful thing is this division, enmity and strife among Muslims, called zeal and steadfastness towards religion. All these are called Ihyaus Sunnah (Reviving the Sunnah). Sometimes it is said that this is the ideal of the Salaf Saleheen and the great predecessors. But they have nothing to do with them.
If these Shaykhs had thought a little, they would have understood that it was a deep conspiracy by the enemies. Their aim is to divert the attention of the Muslims from important areas by putting them behind them and to create severe conflicts among themselves, so that the unity of the Muslims is broken and their strength fragmented. However, Allah Almighty urged the unity and solidarity of Muslims and issued a stern warning against hatred and division. Referred to-
Hold fast to the rope of Allah (i.e. His Deen and Book) and do not divide among yourselves. Remember the favor that Allah has bestowed on you. There was a time when you were each other's enemies. Then Allah joined your hearts together. As a result, by his grace you became brothers. - Surah Ale-Imran (3): 103
Also mentioned-
And do not be like those people (i.e. the Jews and the Nazarenes) who, after clear signs had come to them, were divided and divided among themselves. For such people there is severe punishment. - Surah Ale Imran (3): 105
If these brothers who claim to be followers of the Salaf wish to serve Islam, then what harm would they do if they did the Taraweeh prayer eight rakats or twenty rakats, counting the time of reading tasbeeh with fingers not tasbeeh-dana, doing zikr-azkaar singly, not ijtimayyah- about these things. Did not bother the Muslims?
What would have been their problem if they had devoted their efforts and attention to resisting atheism and Communism, instead of spending their time opposing Muslim worship?
Do they not remember the words of Prophet Muhammad Mustafa, the guide of truth -
Undoubtedly, religion is simple. Whoever is strict about religion will be defeated. -Sahih Bukhari, Hadith 39
Did not reach their ears this hadith of the Holy Prophet -
Give glad tidings, and do not create hatred. Make it easy, don't make it difficult. -Sahih Bukhari, Hadith 3038; Sahih Muslim, Hadith 1732
O Allah! Please guide us. Beware of following instincts. O Rabbul Alamin! Protect us from all severe seditions.
Now starting the main discussion i.e. details of Nawabi guidance regarding Taraweer Namaz. Allah Ta'ala is the Helper and the Giver of Tawfeek.
Command and virtue of Taraweer prayer
Tarawir prayer is the prayer that is performed after Isha and before Witr in the month of Ramadan. This prayer is Sunnah for all men and women. The Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam regularly offered Taraweeh prayers and encouraged others. After his death, the Sahaba-Tabayeen also performed the Tarawir prayer with importance.
Taraweer prayer is one of the symbols of Ramadan. There is a lot of dignity and greatness of Taraweeh in the hearts of Muslims and it has special honor and excellence in the eyes of Allah Rabbul Alameen. It is in the Hadith Sharif that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said:
مَنْ قَامَ رَمَضَانَ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا, غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ.
Whoever prays during the night of Ramadan with faith in the hope of reward, his past sins will be forgiven. -Sahih Bukhari, Hadith 37
The purpose of the hadith is that a person who has faith in Allah and hopes for reward and reward in the court of Allah and engages in prayer, dhikr, recitation etc. during the night of Ramadan, Allah will forgive all his past sins. The rest of the poets! So that's why you have to repent about Khalees. Many scholars have expressed a clear opinion on this. 1
Who first read the Taraweeh prayer?
Ibn Qudama rah. In his large and comprehensive book 'Almugni' he said-
Tarawir Namaz Sunnah Muakkadah. The first three who started this prayer were Rasool Kareem, may God bless him and grant him peace. This matter has been stated in several hadiths. For example:
1. Abu Huraira RA. He said, Rasool Kareem, may God bless him and grant him peace, used to encourage fasting during Ramadan, i.e. worshiping at night. But he did not give orders with firmness. He used to say-
Whoever prays during the night of Ramadan with faith in the hope of reward, his past sins will be forgiven. - Sahih Muslim, Hadith 759
2. Ayesha. Described-
One night of Ramadan, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went to the mosque and stood in prayer. A number of Companions followed him. He prayed on the second night as well. There was a lot of worship this night. Then on the third or (says Rabi) the fourth night the Companions gathered in the mosque; But that night he did not leave the room.
When morning came, he looked at the Companions and said, I saw that you have come. However, I did not come to you fearing that I do not know that this prayer is made obligatory upon you. - Sahih Muslim, Hadith 761
3. Abu Huraira RA. Described from-
Once the Holy Prophet came out of the room and came to the mosque. See, some people are praying in one corner of the mosque. He asked, what are they doing? It is said that they themselves are not memorizers of the Qur'an, so they are praying behind Ubai Ibn Ka'b. Then the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, "They have decided." The work has been very good. 2
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was the first to offer the Taraweeh prayer. Even then it is said that Umar RA. Taraveer prayer has started. This is because he was the first to organize the congregation behind Ubai Ibn Ka'b. Ubai Ibn Ka'b under his command. Taraweer Jamaat started with people. Abdur Rahman Ibn Abdul Kari Rah. said-
One night of Ramadan I went out with Umar RA. I see that people are praying in small congregations. Some are reading alone and some are praying, some people are doing Iqtida. Omar Ra. He said, it seems that it would be better if we gather everyone behind one imam. Then he decided on this matter and made everyone stand behind Ubai Ibn Ka'b.
Went out with him another night. People praying in congregation behind Ubai Ibn Ka'b. Omar Ra. Then he said, This is a good innovation.
The Companions used to pray in the first part of the night (Taraweer). Omar Ra. He said, "The prayer during which they are asleep is better than this prayer." That is, the last night prayer. (Sahih Bukhari, Hadith 2010) -Almughni, Ibn Qudama 2/166
It is clear from these hadiths that the first person to perform the Taraweeh prayer was Sayyiduna Rasoole Kareem, may God bless him and grant him peace. He performed Taraweeh Jamaat for three or four nights with his Companions. After that he did not perform the congregation after being merciful to them. Because, he fears, Taraweer prayer may become obligatory if he prays Tarawir with regular congregation. As a result, it will be a sin if you do not pray regularly. The following tradition makes the matter more clear-
Once in the month of Ramadan, the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, went out in the middle of the night and went to the mosque and prayed. Some people followed him. In the morning people discussed the matter among themselves. The next night more people gathered. Rasool Kareem Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam went to the mosque, they prayed behind him. In the morning people discussed it more. So on the third night the number of Muslims increased a lot. The Prophet went to the mosque and prayed, people followed him. On the fourth night, there are so many Muslims that the mosque is not being assembled. But the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, did not go out for prayer that night. Seeing that, some people started shouting assalat, assalat. But no, the Holy Prophet did not come out. He went to the mosque at dawn. When the Fajr prayer was over, he turned to the Muslims and recited the sermon and said, Listen! I am not aware of your situation tonight. But I fear that if you do not know (if you perform regular congregational prayers), the Taraweeh prayer will become obligatory on you and then you will be unable to perform it. -Sahih Bukhari, Hadith 924; Sahih Muslim, Hadith 761
In another tradition,
It was in this situation that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, passed away. - Sahih Bukhari, Hadith 2012
This is the reason why this prayer is called Tarawir prayer
The night prayer of Ramadan is called Tarawi. Because Taraweer prayer is a long prayer with many rakats. The Muslims take 'Tarbeeh' i.e. rest and relaxation after every four rak'ahs. After that he started praying again in succession. That's why this prayer is called Salatut Taraweeh meaning a prayer with ease and comfort.
Arabic linguist Ibn Manjur. Said, the word تَرَاوِيْحُ (Taraweeh) is the plural of تَرْوِيْحَةٌ. تَرْوِيْحَةٌ means to take comfort once. For example تَسْلِيْمَةٌ means salutation once. The Sunnah prayer of the night of Ramadan is called the prayer of Taraweeh (rahat) because the Muslims take the rahat after every four rak'ahs.
Ibn Manjur rah. Said, And Rahat means not having fatigue and suffering. As mentioned in Hadith Sharif-
Hey Belal! Comfort us through prayer. -Musnad Ahmad, Hadith 23088; Sunan Abu Dawud, Hadith 4985; Muzame Kabir, Tabrani, Hadith 6215
That is, if you give the call to prayer, then you will get relief by performing the prayer. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to find relief in prayer. Because in prayer there is a private conversation with Allah. That is why he said-
The coolness of my eyes is kept in prayer. (Musnad Ahmad, Hadith 12293; Sunan Nasa'i, Hadith 3939) -Lisanul Arab, Volume: 1, Maddah: Ruh
Therefore, in the above-mentioned Sahih Hadiths, the Qiyam of Ramadan (Ramadan night prayer) is mentioned, that Qiyam of Ramadan is the Tarawir prayer.
Number of rakats of Tarawir Namaz
It is proved from the earlier hadiths that the Taraweeh prayer is Sunnah Mu'akkadah. Its number of rakats is twenty and twenty three with bitir. This is how the Ummah era is going. From the time of Caliph Rasheed Umar Ibn Khattab, the predecessors and successors of all Muslims agree on this. None of the imams of the four madhhabs disagreed with this. Yes, Mujtahid Imam Malik of Medina. There is a narration from that Taraweer prayer is thirty-six rakats. His evidence for this opinion is the deeds of the people of Madinah at that time. Nafe Rah. It was narrated that he said, I saw the people of Madinah praying forty-nine rak'ats in Ramadan (thirty-six rak'ats of Tarawi and three rak'ats of witr).
However, Imam Malik rah. Famous narrations from the Shafi'i, Hanbali and Hanafi schools of thought. That is, the Tarawir prayer is twenty rakat. So the imams of the four madhhabs agree on twenty rak'ahs and ijma is established on it. And in this way Allah Ta'ala has protected the believers from the harm of disputes.
Evidence of the Mujtahid Imams
Baihaki Rah. And other muhaddis described in Sahih Sanad that the famous companion Saib Ibn Yazid. said-
During the month of Ramadan during the reign of Umar Ibn Khattab, the Companions used to recite twenty rakats of Tarawi. 3 -Sunan Kubra, Bayhaqi 2/496
2. Tabei Yazid Ibn Ruman rah. said-
During the era of Umar Ibn Khattab, the Companions used to pray twenty-three rakats. -Muatta Malek, Asar 380; Sunane Kubra, Bayhaqi 2/496
That is, they read twenty rak'ats of Tarawi and three rak'ats of witir.
3. Abul Alia Rah. Described from-
Ubai Ibn Ka'b RA. said, Umar RA. He said to him, people fast during the day. (But many) cannot recite the Quran beautifully. (It would have been better) if you had gathered the Taraweeh prayer and recited the Qur'an to them! Then Ubai Ibn Ka'b RA. He said, O Amirul Mu'minin! This practice was not in the era of the Prophet! Omar Ra. He said, I know that. However, it would be better to do Jamaat. Then Ubai Ibn Ka'b RA. He recited twenty rakats of Tarawi with the Companions. 4 - Al-Ahadisul Mukhtarah, Hadith 1161; Musnad Ahmad Ibn Mani'-Qanjul Ummal (Hadith 23471)
In the light of Aimmaye Keram's speech, Tarawi is twenty rakat
Ibn Qudama rah. duplicated the Ijma regarding the twenty rak'at Taraweeh and refuted the second opinion of Imam Malik, which states that the Taraweeh prayer is thirty-six rak'ahs. Ibn Qudama rah. said-
Ramadhan and Taraweeh prayers are twenty rakats in Qiyam. This prayer is Sunnah Muakkadah. Taraweer prayer was started by the Prophet himself. But it is said that Taraweer prayer was started by Umar. This is because he was the first to organize the congregation behind Ubai Ibn Ka'b. Under his command, Ubai Ibn Ka'b RA. Taraweer Jamaat started with people.
In one narration, Umar went out on a night of Ramadan. You see, people are praying in small congregations. Omar Ra. He said, If we gather everyone behind one imam (then it will be better). Then Ubai Ibn Ka'b made them all stand in a congregation behind the Prophet.
Then another night he went out and saw people praying with the congregation behind the imam. Omar Ra. Then he said, This is a good innovation. -Sahih Bukhari, Hadith 2010
Then Ibn Qudama. Said, according to Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal, the Taraweeh prayer is twenty rak'ats. This is Sufian Chauri Rah., Abu Hanifa Rah. And like Shafi'i rah. Imam Malik rah. He said, Taraweer prayer is thirty-six rakat. He adopted the deeds of the people of Madinah at that time.
Evidence of twenty rakat taraweer is Umar ra. When Ubai ibn Ka'b made the Companions stand behind him, he recited twenty rak'ats of Taraweeh with them. Yazid Ibn Ruman Rah. From Imam Malek rah. Narrated that during the era of Umar Ibn Khattab, the Companions used to pray twenty-three rakats (including three rakats of witr).
Ali Ra. It is narrated that he appointed an imam to recite twenty rak'ats of tarabee with the Companions and followers.
Umar ra in front of other companions. And Ali RA's instructions and this practice of the Companions is of the level of Ijma.
Ibn Qudama rah. He also said:
If it is proven that (in the era of Imam Malik) all the people of Madinah recited thirty-six rakats of Tarawi, then Umar. It is better to follow what he did and what the Sahabah Keram agreed upon in his era. Some scholars said that the people of Makkah used to perform tawaf between four rakats. The people of Madinah used to pray four rakat instead of Tawaf to get that reward. But needless to say, it is better to act according to the number of rakats that the Companions were on.
Ali Ra. It is narrated that he visited different mosques in one Ramadan. People are praying by lighting lamps in them. Then Ali Ra. He said, May Allah illuminate the grave of Umar, as He illuminated our mosques.
Imam Ahmad rah. He said, Tarawir Namaz will be prolonged as much as it is bearable for Muslims, so that they do not suffer. The issue of Qaraat depends on the tolerance of Muslims. Qazi Rah. Said, Tarawi should not be less than one khatam in the whole Ramadan and it is not correct to read more than one khatam; So that Muslims do not suffer. -Almughni, Ibn Qudama 2/167
(The author said,) According to the famous opinion of Imam Malek, the Taraweeh prayer is twenty rak'ats. So the ijma of the mujtahid imams regarding twenty rak'ahs being better is being verified. Shaykh Dardi's Maleki Rah. He said, Taraweer prayer is twenty rakat in Ramadan. It will be performed after the Isha prayer. Except for the three rakats of bitir, every two rakats will return the salam. It is mustahab to recite one verse in twenty rak'ahs every night. In this way, once in the entire tarabee, the Qur'an is finished.
If there is no fear that the mosque will be empty from the congregation, then it is better to pray the Taraweeh prayer alone at home. And if there is fear that the mosque will be empty, it is better to attend the congregation in the mosque. -Aqrabul Masaliq Ala Madhabil Imam Malik 1/552; Ashharhus Sagir Ala Akrabil Masalik 1/552
However Imam Shafi'i rah. And the Madhhab of Imam Abu Hanifa RA also read twenty rakat Tarawi. Because, during the caliphate of Umar Farooq RA, the Companions agreed on it. Imam Ibn Abdul Bar Rah. said-
Ubai Ibn Ka'b RA. It is correct that he recited twenty rak'ats of tarabee with the Companions. There is no disagreement among the Companions. (Al-Istiqar 5/157)
In Mukhtasarul Muzaani Kitab (p. 21), Imam Shafi'i rah. said-
I saw the people of Madinah, they prayed forty-nine rakats (including three rakats of witir). However, twenty rak'ats are better for me. Because, this is Omar Ra. Narrated from and I also saw the people of Makkah, they read twenty rak'ats of tarabee and three rak'ats of witir.
The statement of Imam Tirmidhi
Imam Tirmidhi. said-
Umar ra., Ali ra. And what has been narrated from other Companions is based on the actions of most of the people of knowledge. That is, the Tarawir prayer is twenty rakat. Sufian Chaori Rah., Abdullah Ibn Mubarak Rah. And Shafi'i's madhhab is also according to this. Shafi'i Rah. He said, I saw the people of Makkah, they read twenty rakat tarabee. -Jamee Tirmidhi 2/327-328
Ibn Rushd rah. said-
Imam Malik rah. -According to a narration-, Imam Abu Hanifa rah., Shafi'i rah. And Ahmad Rah. 20 rakat without witr accepted Taraweeh. -Bidayatul Mujtahid 2/262
Imam Nawabi Rah. said-
According to our Shafi'i Madhhab, the Taraweeh prayer is twenty rak'ahs. In every two rak'ats, return the salam and four rak'ats consecutively, perform 'Tarweeha' or rest.
Abu Hanifa Rah. And his followers and Ahmad Rah., Dawood Rah. And this is the same with other Imams. Qazi Yaz Rah. He said, the Madhhab of the Ulama of Jumuhur is also the same.
Imam Malik rah. Said, Taraweer prayer is thirty-six rakats excluding witr. 5 - Almajmu' 3/526
Imam Ibn Taymiyyah. said-
Ubai Ibn Ka'b RA. Twenty rak'ats of tarabee and three rak'ats of witr were recited with the Companions - this is well-authenticated. So this is the Sunnah according to many scholars. Because, Ubai Ibn Ka'b RA. Muhajir and Ansar Sahaba prayed twenty rakat in the presence of Keram. No one objected to it then. -Majmool Fatawa, Ibn Taymiyyah 23/112-123
In 'Majmu'atul Fatawan Najdiyya', Shaykh Abdullah Ibn Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab mentioned in response to a question about the number of rak'ahs of the Tarawi prayer that Umar r.a. When Ubayy ibn Ka'b arranged the Jamaat through the Prophet, the Companions recited twenty rak'ats of Taraweeh.
These quotes from the Imams of the Muslim Ummah prove that the twenty rakat tarabee that is currently established among Muslims is the right. There is no room for doubt. Twenty rakats are proven by the deeds of the Companions. On this is the consensus of the Imams of the four schools of thought, who are beacons of guidance and towers of knowledge and wisdom for all ages. Umar RA also gave instructions for this number. And the commentary of Sahih Hadith is-
Allah Ta'ala has preserved truth and truth in Umar's tongue and lips. -Jamee Tirmidhi, Hadith 3682; Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba, Hadith 32649; Musnad Ahmad, Hadith 5145, 21295, 21457; Sahih Ibn Hibban, Hadith 6889

The virtue of giving charity in the month of Ramadan is also much higher than in other months. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: Whoever breaks his fast during this month, it will be a means of forgiveness for his sins and release from the (Hell) fire. And the reward of that fasting will not be less at all. Companions said, O Messenger of Allah! Each of us does not have this ability, by which he will break the fasting person? Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: (This reward does not depend on feeding one's stomach but) this reward will be given by Allah to the person who (according to his ability) feeds the fasting person with a sip of milk or a single date or a drink of water. Will have iftar. Whoever satisfies a fasting person, Allah Ta'ala will make him drink from My House (House of Kawsar) in such a way that he will not be thirsty again before entering Paradise.
The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: Whoever attains nearness to Allah through good deeds in this month, he will be like the person who performed an obligation other than Ramadan. And whoever performs one fard in this month, it is as if he performed seventy fards in another month.
Sahih Ibn Khuzimah (3/ 191)
1887 - ثنا علي بن حجر السعدي, ثنا يوسف بن زياد, ثنا حمام بن يحيى, عن علي بن زيد بن جدعان, عن سعيد بن المسيب, عن Salman said: ختبنا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في اخر يوم من شعبان فاقلا: «Ayha Naas qud ľalkum a great city, a blessed city, a city in which a night is better than a thousand cities. And he who performed a fast in it was like one who performed a fast in the seventh, and that is the city of patience, and patience is the reward of Paradise, and the city of comfort, and the city of Yazdad in it is the sustenance of the believer. He said: "Not all of us find what is fitr al-sa'im." Allah does not spare you from them: فتساقلون الله جنة, وتثووون به من هنار, فت سقلون الله عن حنا, وتودوون به من هنار, فت سقلون الله وتودوون به من هنا.
[التعليق] 1887 - قال العظمي: عسناده علي بن زيد بن جدعان دعيف
Hazrat Abu Huraira RA. There is a hadith narrated from, 'When Ramadan came, the Messenger of Allah, may God's prayers and peace be upon him, said:
The month of Ramadan has come to you, this is a blessed month, Allah has made fasting this month obligatory on you. In this month the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hell are closed. And the devils are disciplined. There is a resin in it, which is better than a thousand months. He who is deprived of its welfare is truly deprived. -Musnad Ahmad, Hadith 7148
So every believing Muslim should do more worship in this month including charity, charity, recitation of Quran, Nafal Namaz. Especially doing more of these four things.
1. Read more Kalima.
2. Reciting Estegfa more and more.
3. Liberation from hell
4. Make more dua to enter Jannah.
